China's energy use

There are reports on CNN always saying that increased energy prices are from China and India developing. That is probably true, but they don't use energy anything like in the US. It is rare to go to any place of business that has all their lights on.

When I went to the hospital, the nurse only turned on the lights in the room to start the IV. As soon as the needle was in and everything set, the lights went off. Same is true for many restaurants. All lights are fluorescent. Some more upscale retail has lights on all the time, but probably not all the lights. Air conditioning has only recently started to be turned on for short periods. Using energy costs money, and the Chinese are keenly aware of ways that money is spent.
