After China got crushed by the US in basketball it was evident that China is not yet a basketball power. There is a Nike ad on TV now where a teenager is holding a basketball watching a wall sized TV screen above an outdoor basketball court. On the TV, LeBron dribbles down the court and soars up for a monster dunk. Then the camera goes back to the kid, and he says, "I will be back tomorrow." (He says something before that too, but I only sort of understand. It was either, "You are the best today." Or "You can beat me today." Not quite sure. The point was pretty clear.)
In ten years China basketball should be quite good. There are 400 million basketball fans in China. After "hello", "Kobe" is probably the most well known English word.
